Irish Music by Na Rósaí

Na Rósaí is a Portland-based band playing a mix of traditional Irish music, old time Appalachian tunes, and a set of Breton, and French tunes. It features Preston Howard [Uilleann Pipes, Whistles], Richie Rosencrans [Bouzouki, Tenor Guitar, Vocals], Conor O’Bryan [Flute] and Erik Killops [Fiddle]. Ukulele Road Show

The Ukulele Road Show promises a fresh take on the ukulele in the hands of lovers and friends from the modern uke milieu. Three top duos from the mighty uke craze will bring The Ukulele Road Show to the stage to five select venues in the Pacific Northwest from September 9-16, 2016. The Ukulele Road Show features duet and sextet performances of contemporary, traditional and original folk, jazz and pop arranged for ukulele by Oregon “folkstitution” minstrels, Kate Power & Steve Einhorn, Columbia Gorge uke-builders, teachers and globe-trotting performers, The Quiet American, and southern California uke pop stars, Craig Chee & Sarah Maisel. Part of the Tunes in the Dunes annual ukulele workshop, and a benefit for the Westwind Stewardship Group.

Gypsy Jazz with the Rhythm Future Quartet

The acoustic jazz ensemble, the Rhythm Future Quartet, has a straightforward agenda: to keep the spirit of gypsy jazz alive and expanding in today’s musical universe. The virtuosic foursome, named for a Django Reinhardt tune, offers up a newly-minted sound, influenced by the classic Hot Club of France, yet wholly contemporary. Led by violinist Jason Anick and guitarist Olli Soikkeli, the quartet performs dynamic and lyrical arrangements of standards and original compositions that draw upon diverse international rhythms and musical idioms. With Max O’Rourke on second guitar and Greg Loughman on bass, Rhythm Future is dedicated to expanding the boundaries of a vital musical genre. Tickets are $20 in advance, $22 at the door, free for youth ages 18 and under.

Performing alongside his saucy wife and long-time songwriting partner Carolyn Victoria Mill, they present an entertaining duo where harmonies abound.
